Moving About in Arizona
In the 3-1/2 weeks since we arrived in Casa Grande, we moved 3 more times.  From Casa Grande and visiting with Jack & Darlene, we moved to Apache Junction and enjoyed visits with Judy & Gordon and Don and Kathy.  We all enjoyed one particular evening at the Arizona Opry.  Happily, it was much better than we had expected.  We moved to Mesa for a week and found lots of interesting places to shop.  While we were there, we met the Stiches for dinner in Tempe.  Great fun.  Now back in Casa Grande until moving on to Yuma on the 12th.  The winter travels are nearing an end.

Spanning the New Year to Valentine's Day

Here goes trying to fill in between New Year’s and Valentines Days.  We spent three weeks in the Tropic Winds RV Park in Harlingen, TX (January 4 to January 24).  Very rainy weather when we got there and when we left.  Had to be towed out because we had settled in the mud.  We stayed in a couple of other parks in the Rio Grande Valley and finally left the area on February 9.  During the 5 or so weeks we were in the Valley, we made several trips to Mexico for dental work  and also a day trip to Monterrey.  The weather was unseasonably cold and rainy, so we were anxious to move on.  Truck had other ideas and refused to give power until the Ford shop gave her some kind of new harness (seriously).  After the two day delay we made serious tracks to our current location, Casa Grande, AZ.  Made it from Mission, TX to here in 4 days.  Ginger was not happy with the long travel days, but  the week here should get her in good spirits.  We will visit with our friends, the Wilsons, here in Casa Grande.  Next week we move to Apache Junction for a week and will visit Gordon & Judy Polinkus.  Yuma is after that, I think.

Week of Fun & A New Year, Too

Our relocation to Fulton, TX on Thursday was the start of a great week that has now concluded.  We move tomorrow to Harlingen, TX, about 150 miles southeast. We enjoyed a full range of activites here at Woody Acres in Fulton: geocaching, game playing and long conversations with Barb Lee & Paul Styles, a trip to Padre Island for a walk on the beach New Year's Day.  Yesterday was an enjoyable tour of the USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier in Corpus Christi, TX followed by dinner at Moon Dog on the waterfront here in Fulton.  Be sure and check the photo link on the home page for a few photos of our stay here.

Texas in December

Pretty uneventful travels this month so far.  We stayed at a few new places that  we enjoyed and will recommend and go back to if and when we are back this way.  Sorry to have missed our friends, the Dybalas, when we were at the COE park at Lake Lewisville.  At our next stop, Lake Conroe north of Houston, we enjoyed the time spent with niece Lisa and her husband Matt.  We'll have another low key Christmas here at Colorado River TTN, and then move to Rockport, TX through New Years.  We look forward to spending time with Paul and Barb there.

We're Getting Warmer...

The 3rd annual Kanopolis camp-in was another success.  We enjoyed food, outings, games and some campfires with friends Glen and Carolyn Gibson (Of course I talked a lot, too.)  We missed Dave and Sherry this year, and we all wished that Loyde and Paul & Barb could have been with us, too. The Gibsons have a new trailer since we saw them last so we each compared, admired and critiqued each others new home.  Before we left Kanopolis, our new trailer sported a beautiful magazine rack that Glen made for us, a new rug that Glen & Carolyn spotted in Lowe's, and we pounced on as being perfect.  The group made a decision on where to hang the towel rack (really, people, it was a major problem). Only dark spot of the weekend was K-State losing to KU.  A rousing late-night game of Mexican train brought you-know-who back to good spirits.

We said our goodbyes and moved on to Kaw Lake in Oklahoma and stayed just one night. The Coon Cove Camprground had a beautiful lake view and is a COE park with reasonable price ($8/night), but not as cheap as Venango which is $2 a night on the off-season with a Golden Eagle pass. Currently we are settled in with full hook-ups in one of our membership parks, Lake Texoma Thousand Trails), on the Oklahoma/Texas Border.  We'll be here for at least a week before going even further south and trying for a warmer climate.

Kansas Travels
We had an uneventful trip to Colby.  Spent one night between Moriarty and Colby at John Martin Reservoir near Hasty, CO.  We were in Colby for a week beginning 11/6.  We left Colby Monday the 13th and made a brief stop in Logan to visit Aunt Dona and Uncle A.G.  Then to Smith Center for a brief stop at the Excel factory to get two chairs replaced and to have the counter top sanded down to remove swirls and even out the appearance.  Traveled on the same day to Wilson Lake (Sylvan Park COE Park) where we are at this writing.  Enjoyed a hike while looking for and finding two geocaches yesterday.  Next Stop:  Kanopolis Lake near Salina for 11/16 - 11/18.  Looking forward to some time with friends Carolyn and Glen Gibson.

New Home
We left Verde Valley on Halloween for the trip to Moriarty NM to pickup the new trailer.  Spent Tuesday night at the Dancing Eagle Casino where we liberated $100 of their money.  Arrived in Moriarty before noon on Wednesday and saw the new Trailer.  Our initial reaction:  it's beautiful.  Delayed reaction: where do we put everything?  But now that several days have passed, we are settled in and have a little bit of room to spare. We'll leave here tomorrow morning (Sunday) and arrive in Colby on Monday.  Will post pictures soon.

A Favorite Spot - TTN Verde Valley

We enjoyed most of our travel from Las Vegas to Verde Valley (near Cottonwood) on Tuesday.  Big disappointment came when Paul Styles called to tell us they were in Bullhead City.  At the time of the call, we were about 2 hours beyond Bullhead City.  Just really crumby timing!  Then the truck started loosing it's boost on the steep inclines.  Did manage to limp in, but are facing some repairs.  Weather here is very much to our liking.  Hope it holds until Halloween when we leave here and head for New Mexico.

Las Vegas Briefly
Arrived Sam's Town Las Vegas about noon Sunday.  Will leave in the morning (Tues) and go to Thousand Trails Verde Valley near Cottonwood, AZ.  Found out on Saturday evening that the trailer wasn't ready in New Mexico like we had been told, so need to spend some time waiting until it is ready so that is why the unexpected Verde Valley visit.  Always enjoy it there, so that is a good option.  Mostly staying out of the casino this time, so the losses will be minimized and probably won't have a chance for any big wins.  Weather is terrific!  Sam's Town link: http://www.samstownlv.com/rvpark/index.cfm

Game Day

Long travel day today, ending up 30 miles from anywhere.  It was time for the K-State/Nebraska game just as we encountered a roadside park on Highway 93, about 200 miles north of Las Vegas.  Got the satellite set up, generator is running and the game is on at this moment.  Not going to good at the minute, but maybe they'll turn it around.  We'll be underway early tomorrow.
